The
purpose of the Environmentally Sensitive Lands Committee (ESLC)
is to review and make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners
regarding potential acquisition of sensitive lands and related issues.
The membership of the ESLC is comprised of eleven persons appointed
by the Hernando County Board of County Commissioners in accordance
with Policy 06-1.
Seven members have specific areas of professional expertise and
four are laypeople. The Committee is composed of volunteer members
from the community who have technical, professional or personal
interests in the conservation and preservation of environmentally
sensitive lands within
Hernando County.
A cross section of public and private interests is represented by
members with professional expertise. Areas of expertise include
professionals in botany, engineering with knowledge of land development
or land use, archeology, geology , hydrology, biology, realty, ecology,
forestry land management, and related natural science.
